Advani Invokes Ram Mandir Again – It Must be Election Time
Update: Guess who wants to build a Babri Masjid in Ayodhya?

What time of the year is it? Is it time to be Prime Minister? One last time? Hey why don’t we promise that thing we promised right before the last election we won? The same thing that we took out a Rath Yatra for and created the Bajrang Dal along the way? The thing that led to the killings of thousands of muslims and hundreds of hindus later? For which we had to shed crocodile tears for?
BJP decides (yet again) to use Lord Ram for electoral gains. This time, Mr. Rajnath Singh wants to enact a law in the parliament for its creation. You won’t hear a word of it once they’re in power though. Just like the last time. Happy hunting.
Today, 70% odd Indians answer nature’s calls out in the open. I’ll become BJP’s greatest supporter the day they promise (and implement) to build lakhs of toilets around the country, especially for women, instead of a Ram Mandir. One must not play with fire and history.

The last paragraph was the best. Wondering how long it’ll take people to realise that they’re prioritising less important and dreamy things compared to basic necessities and the such.
Hey sorry for approving your comment this late. It was somehow in my spam; I “un-spammed” it. Cheers.
I suggest Advani start by building some toilets in Amethi.
Sure, why not? I would certainly support that.
Why do you presume I support the Congress?
I did not presume you support Congress. All I expressed was surprise that the onus of building toilets seems to be wholly on the party that has ruled for 6 yrs versus the one that has ruled for 55. As before, I ask, now why would a normal person, with a basic sense of fairness, do that, except (gasp!)
if he is a Congress supporter. I look forward to a plausible alternate explanation.
The plausible alternate explanation(as much as it might surprise someone who has repeatedly put me in the ‘opposing camp’ for not toeing his line) is this:
The BJP has promised to “build” a Ram Mandir (which has something to do with religion; a concept which I believe is the root problem of a lot of issues in our great country). A Ram Mandir, when the REAL problems that worries 70% of Indians is where they would go next (it is especially tougher for women); A Ram Mandir, when there is NO PROOF that a lord Ram even existed; A Ram Mandir, when thousands of muslims and hundreds of hindus were killed in riots that ensued the Babri demolition.
Certain low-rung congressmen had said prior to the previous elections that they would rebuild a Babri Masjid if elected. I didn’t blog then, but rest assured I spoke out against them in polite circles.
I have also explained why I take on BJP so very often in my reply to you on http://bigotblog.wordpress.com/2009/02/16/the-bjps-foreign-policy/
I would support any party for building basic infrastructure for the poor, and oppose any who wish to build any place of worship. I would especially dislike any attempts to prioritise the latter over the former. (While I am against religion, I don’t wan’t the state to end it. I’m no commie. Temples and mosques can be built by social institutions, but must not be by political parties and the government. There has been enough literature on why there is a need of separation of religion and state.)
Just read the name of the blog post and I am so glad I found this blog :))
They are my favorites too.
I presume by ‘they’ you mean some of those ideologically inclined right wingers? (Just to clarify to any one randomly reading this: I’m not a political leftist). Their antics entertain me at times, and pain me at others.
Yes I mean the ideologically inclined right wingers. I think their antics are taking us back to 18th century.
And I also dislike what their doing to my religion, I don’t identify with the Hinduism they preach- violence, fundamentalism, banning and bandhs.
